Health Services

A current physical exam is required for all students every 365 days, dated between February 1 – July 1, to be acceptable for enrollment in the school year that begins on July 1.   

Delbarton uses Magnus Health, an electronic student health record solution, for online healthcare records. New parents will receive an email from Magnus Health in the spring, with instructions for setting up their account. It can also be accessed via the orange Magnus Health button on this page. The Pre-participation Physical Exam, Immunization record and Medication Request form must be filled out and uploaded along with the Vital Health Record and the other consents.  All forms can be found on the Magnus Health website, or on the Health Services page. Proof of immunizations must be up to date. Incoming 7th graders must have one dose of MCV and the Tdap vaccine. If your son has received the COVID-19 vaccination, please upload a copy of the vaccination card to his Magnus account.

All students must complete this information, along with all financial obligations, before July 1 to receive their class schedules for the school year beginning July 1, and a Fast Pass link to order textbooks with free shipping. 

Students trying out for a sport must also complete a Health History Update, if applicable and the consents for Concussion Policy, Steroid Test, Sudden Cardiac Death and Eye Injury.

If your son has been diagnosed with asthma, diabetes or another condition that requires medication  at school, enter this information in Magnus Health and upload the Asthma Action Plan, seizures or other medical care plan as directed. We recommend that he keep extra medication in the Health Office. Please label all inhalers and medications with your son’s name. 

If your son has life-threatening allergies, please upload a completed "Food (or other) Allergy Plan". Your son must ALWAYS carry both his  Epipens/Auvi-Q at school, on field trips and at extracurricular events. Also alert any coach, chaperone, or team parent of your son’s food allergy.  You may also keep an extra epipen in the nurse’s office. All AEDs in student buildings on campus  have Epipens inside them. 

We encourage all students with food allergies or special dietary needs to download the free Sage  Dining Services app which offers weekly menus, ingredients and nutritional information. Contact Sage Dining Manager James DeSilvestri  at sagedining@delbarton.org  if your son has special  dietary needs not currently met by Delbarton food service options. The Daily Menu is posted on our website in the Student Life section under SAGE Dining.

An updated medication request form must be completed and uploaded to MAGNUS for each student  every year to cover over-the-counter medications such as Advil and Tylenol. If your son takes daily  medication, please provide the nurse with a sufficient supply. Students are not permitted to carry any medication during the school day unless it is for emergency purposes (such as an inhaler or an EpiPen).

If your son has experienced vomiting, diarrhea, or a contagious illness and/or a fever over 100 degrees in the past 24 hours, or is coughing from a respiratory illness, or COVID-19, please keep him home from school for his protection as well as the other students. If your son is diagnosed with strep, mono, or has an undiagnosed skin rash, or itchy, red, weepy eyes, please keep him home until he has been on antibiotics or treatment for at least 24 hours.  Absences must be reported to our Attendance Officer Ashley Lloyd at attendance@delbarton.org.

We require a doctor’s note to return after an absence of more than 3 days. For more information, download the Delbarton Illness Policy.

If your son does not feel well during the school day, he should inform his teacher and then visit the Health Office. If he goes home sick from school, a parent will be contacted and he must be dismissed by the nurse and placed on the attendance list.

If your son has an injury or a concussion, please notify the nurse immediately and share any doctor’s notes  and recommendations. We are eager to help him fully recover. Delbarton carries secondary insurance that may cover costs not covered by your primary insurance. Students on crutches may not go to the Dining Hall for lunch, but must eat in the Health Office.

Remote or virtual instruction will be provided for those who have an extended absence of more than three days. Exceptions may be made for extraordinary circumstances with the approval of the Assistant Headmaster for Student Affairs, Mr. Chuck Ruebling.
