SPORTS MEDICINE AND ATHLETIC TRAINING

Athletic Trainers are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Certified Athletic Trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum. Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition.

The main Athletic Training Room is located in the Lynch Athletic Center, adjacent to the Murphy Fitness Center. A second fully equipped Training Room, the Shindle Athletic Training Room, is located in the Pizzo Family Field House. It is staffed by two full time New Jersey State Licensed and NATABOC certified athletic trainers. Injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation occur throughout the school day and during athletic practices and games.
