Custodial Worker

Position Summary

Delbarton School, an independent Benedictine Catholic school for young men in grades 7-12 seeks excellent candidates for the role of custodial worker. This position is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the buildings and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe and sanitary manner.  Under direct supervision, the duties of this position involve and not limited to the efficient and economical performance of building cleaning. Maintaining these responsibilities will help to ensure the health, safety and security of the staff and public.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms and recreational facilities
• Clean all whiteboards, student desks and teachers’ desks
• Mop hardwood floor areas
• Vacuum all carpeted areas
• Dust all furniture and fixtures as required
• Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, hand dryers and fixtures, clean all mirrors
• Replenish toilet tissue, soap and sanitizers as needed
• Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans
• Place garbage in outside storage bin
• Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware
• Keep outside area near exit and entrance clear of snow, cans, paper, etc.
• Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass
• Perform and/or report minor maintenance repairs
• Clean kitchen sinks and counters
• Report damages and acts of vandalism
• Wash and buff floors with floor polisher as needed
• Wash entrance and exit floors
• Spot clean walls and toilet partitions
• Secure storage areas
• Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner
• Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning materials and supplies
• Restock materials and supplies
• Make note of the need for equipment repairs
• Maintain storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order to ensure the safety of staff and the public.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Attributes)

• High School education
• Previous work experience in educational or similar setting

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lifting or carrying over 25lbs
• Regular pushing/pulling/bending/stooping/kneeling
• Must be available to work some weekends
• Regularly sitting or standing 4-8 hours
• Requires physical presence, work to be performed on campus
• Staff can be called for snow removal and school emergencies
