2020 delbarton experience speeches
Each spring, Delbarton hosts the Delbarton Experience Dinner, a parent event that includes speeches from members of the graduating class chosen by Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd, OSB. In 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, five members of the Class of 2020 shared their memories virtually.
ivan scotto '20
Ivan entered Delbarton in ninth grade. During his time at Delbarton, he was a three-year varsity soccer player, a one-year varsity squash player. He was also an avid member of the Science in Research Club, the Global Awareness Club, and a deanery leader. This fall, Ivan moves on to the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. Ivan and his family live in Mendham, NJ.
Theo Coughlin '20
Theo entered Delbarton in ninth grade. During his four years at Delbarton, he played on the Green Wave Squash team and was Co-President of the very successful Delbarton Investment Club during its inaugural year. Next year, Theo moves on to the University of Notre Dame where he plans to major in Biological Sciences. Theo and his family live in Tuxedo Park, NY.
Rory Quinn '20
Rory joined Delbarton Class of 2020 in the ninth grade. During his time on campus, Rory performed multiple starring roles in Abbey Players theater productions, played the sax in the Delbarton Jazz Ensemble, and sang in Schola Cantorum and the Benedictones acapella group. He was also a member of the Delta literary magazine staff. Next year, he enters the acting program at the University of Southern California. Rory and his family live in Chatham NJ.
Jamarc Simon '20
Jamarc arrived at Delbarton in ninth grade. During his tenure at Delbarton, he was a Student Ambassador Coordinator, a math and science tutor, junior and senior retreat leader, and volunteered with EPOCH, Neighborhood House and the Interfaith Food Pantry. Jamarc also ran spring track for the Green Wave. Next year, Jamarc enters Yale University as a Public Health Pre-Med major. Jamarc and his family live in Parsippany, NJ.
Angel Morataya '20
Angel joined the Class of 2020 in ninth grade. He was a Co-President of Diversity Among Peers, President of both the Spanish Honors Society and Spanish Club, served as a coordinator for the Social Justice Committee, and helped organize the ESL Program for Delbarton staff members. This fall, Angel moves on to Brown University where he plans to double concentrate in International Relations, and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Angel and his family live in Carteret, NJ.
