NAVIGATING DELBARTON

Delbarton draws students from 12 counties and 120 towns in New Jersey, as well as from Pennsylvania and New York, which makes transportation an important topic for our families. We offer a variety of options to make getting to and from our campus convenient.  Our goal is to make students' daily commute as easy as possible.

Delbarton Busing

To support students commuting from areas outside the school busing zone, we offer an optional contract bus service (morning and 4:15 pm) from the following areas:

  • Western Bergen County
  • Eastern Bergen County
  • Essex County
  • Hudson County (6:00 pm Departure)
  • Monmouth County (6:00 pm Departure)
  • Morristown Train Station
  • Somerset County
  • Union County

The cost per rider for an annual subscription is $7,000 for morning and afternoon busing, except for pickup from the Morristown Train Station, which is $4,000.

Late Bus Program

Delbarton also offers a Late Bus service for any student needing transportation for activities and athletics that conclude after the 4:15 pm buses depart. The cost for the Late Bus is $1,750 for the school year (or $1,500 for students subscribed to a Delbarton-contracted morning and 4:15 pm route).

There are five Late Bus routes (North, South, East, West, and Southeast) that depart from Trinity Hall between 6:00 pm and 6:15 pm, depending on when the 4:15 pm buses return to campus.

Train Station Shuttles

Delbarton buses service the Morristown Train Station in the mornings, and at 4:15 pm and 6:00 pm.  Delbarton buses pick up and drop off students at the Morristown Train Station as part of morning, afternoon, and late bus services.

Car Pooling

Upon request, Delbarton is happy to provide parents of enrolled students with the contact information of other families from their geographic region to arrange carpools.

pick up locations

Due to wide geographical spread of each bus route, there are a limited number of stops for pick-up and drop-off.  Parents are responsible for bringing their son(s) to and from these points. Bus route and stop locations change to varying degrees each year based upon the demographics of our student body.  In the past, bus service has been offered from Hunterdon County as well.

municipal (local school board) busing

New Jersey students who live between 2 and 20 miles from the school they attend are eligible for municipally-operated or contract transportation (morning pickup and 4:15 pm departure). Many of our Morris County students are bused by First Student or the Morris School District, on behalf of the Morris Education Services Commission. In rural counties, the farthest distance is 30 miles.  However, some students are eligible for transportation, but no bus route is offered, so they receive Aid-In-Lieu of Transportation instead. The policy for transportation or Aid-In-Lieu varies according to each sending school district. Related information can be obtained by contacting your municipal Board of Education. All municipal buses depart campus from the Science Pavilion Bus Loop.
