Admissions Overview

Dr. David Donovan Dean of Admissions

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to look at Delbarton!

We want to encourage you to research carefully your educational options because selecting a school is a significant life decision. You may want to ask yourself: Which school most closely matches my interests and abilities? What type of academic, social, and extracurricular environment will challenge me to grow and develop as a young man?

At Delbarton, we attract students whose academic achievement and personal promise make them positive members of our school community. Because of our broad, college preparatory course curriculum and our dynamic offerings in arts, athletics, clubs, and service activities, we draw to Delbarton young men who are uniquely passionate and thoroughly engaged, intellectually curious and socially responsible.  The committee looks for young men who have the potential to be leaders in such an environment and who crave this type of experience for themselves.

Delbarton attracts students of really diverse passions, talents, and backgrounds.  This combination is powerful because it allows the school to assemble dynamic classes of unique young men who ignite the learning environment.

The goal of the Admissions Committee, therefore, is to facilitate Delbarton School and the applicant families to learn more about one another for the school to assemble a balanced class of students whose diverse talents and experiences will contribute meaningfully to the school community.

Please feel free to review our admission and application information and contact us if you need any assistance at all. We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about who we are and what we do.

A Warm Welcome,

parent satisfaction survey results

Survey research tells us that Delbarton parents are significantly more satisfied with their child’s experience at Delbarton than parents who send their children to public, charter, or to other private schools.  Specifically, parents at Delbarton feel that in the three areas of vital concern to families —school safety, character and values, and quality of building and facilities — Delbarton stands out as exceptional. These findings come from three sources: the scholarly journal Education Next, the National Center for Education Statistics, and Delbarton School’s comprehensive parent feedback survey administered confidentially to its own families.
