THANK YOU to all who helped us collect 53,205 pounds of food for the Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown...
With a massive 9,535 pound effort on Monday, November 19 -- an extra collection date due to last week's snow -- we smashed our 50,000 pound goal for the 2018 Thanksgiving Food Drive! This year we collected a total of 53,205 pounds of food for the Community Soup Kichen of Morristown. The Rhinos won the deanery competition with 4,097 points, followed by the Narwals with 3,993 points and the Spider Monkeys with 3,814 points. Great job, men!
DMG organizers Rebecca VanVolkenburgh, Sharon Tompkins, Gladden Falivene and Maureen Smart, who worked tirelessly with Campus Ministry Director Dr. David Hajduk (pictured below with our DMG team) and faculty statistician Brian Theroux, say, "We are so blessed to have witnessed all of the unselfish generosity of all members of our Delbarton family who contributed to providing food to local families."
A Drive of this magnitude takes much hard work and, of course, truly remarkable food donations from our community members, including alumni. Parents went on Cosco runs with their sons, donated snacks, volunteered outside in all (and we mean ALL) kinds of weather, ordered pallets of canned food, and recruited their gents to transport bags on the bus. Organizers get the final word: "You and your family are how we achieved our goal of 50,000 pounds. As we are all reminded to be thankful this week, Delbarton Campus Ministry and the Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown are thankful for you!"
