Alexy will swim for Team USA in the Junior World Championships August 20-26 in Budapest, Hungary.
Last week, Jack Alexy '21 competed in the USA National Championship meet at the Avery Aquatics Center in Stanford, California. Jack is one of just a handful of high school juniors who qualified to compete in the championships, against a field of Olympians, professional and top-tier collegiate swimmers.
Leading up to the event, Alexy swam in Clovis, California where he secured an Olympic Trial cut in the 50m-freestyle! On top of this achievement, Jack was recognized in June as a High School All-American in both the 100 and 200 freestyle. He is now a four-time All-American, having earned the All-American recognition last year in the 100 backstroke and 100 free.
At the US National Championship meet, Jack had a break-out performance in the final of the 100 freestyle. His time of 49.67 is the third best time in history by a 16-year old and well under the Olympic Trial cut of 50.49. With this swim, Jack won a coveted spot on the USA Men's National Junior Team. He is slated to swim as part of the 4x100 Freestyle relay team in the Junior World Championships August 20-26 in Budapest. Alexy will be one of approximately nineteen 18 and under American boys who will travel to Hungary to represent team USA.
Along with the 100 freestyle, Jack also swam the 50 and 200 freestyle as well as the 100 backstroke. He achieved a new personal best time in the 50 freestyle (20.93) while also performing incredibly well in the 200FR and 100BK.
We wish Jack Alexy the best of luck in the coming weeks and congratulate him on his amazing accomplishments. We are so proud to see you representing our school and country at the Junior World Championships later this month. Go USA and bring home the gold!
