Today, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of students nationwide as Semifinalists in the 2020-21 National Merit Program. Four Delbarton seniors were recognized as Semifinalists for their academic success.

Our Delbarton senior Semifinalists are Anand Majmudar ‘22...

Warren Wu ‘22...

Mathew J. Sebastian...

and, Austen L. Yun ‘22.

These four young men join approximately 16,000 other Semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program who are eligible to compete for some 7,600 scholarships worth more than $31 million to be offered next spring. To be considered, Semifinalists fulfill several requirements, including a detailed application, academic records, extracurricular details and more, to advance to the Finalist level. Over 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and nearly half of the Finalists ultimately win a National Merit Scholarship and earn the Merit Scholar title.

The National Merit Scholarship Program began in 1955 as an American academic competition that rewards achievement with recognition and scholarships. With approximately 1.5 million high school students enter the program each year, NMSC's goals are to honor the nations best scholars in their pursuit of academic excellence.
