Delbarton Artists Exhibit at MPAC
Art created by Caitlin Servilio's Studio Art juniors is currently on display at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown...
Recently my junior Studio Art class participated in an exhibition/contest at the Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown. The boys entered their work in a contest that challenged students at area high schools to design a cover for their program booklet that embodied the theme "Imagine! Discover! Create! Celebrate MPAC and the arts."
Junior Luke Agaisse '20's drawing of a musician playing the clarinet was awarded an honorable mention at the exhibition, and will be included in MPAC's program booklets for this year. All the student artists were honored at a reception on Monday, February 25 at the MPAC Art Upstairs Gallery, where their art will be on display through March 5.
For this Delbarton Studio Art project, students began by taking photos of musicians playing their instruments, and then used those photos as a reference for a charcoal drawing. Some of the musicians are Delbarton students, while others are friends or family of the artists. The students also created a background for their drawings using watercolor. Other participating high schools at the exhibition included Randolph High School and Boonton High School.
