St. Mary's Abbey is home to Delbarton School

A shared sacred space, the Benedictine monastic community and Delbarton School thrive together on St. Mary's Abbey's 187 idyllic acres in Morris Township, NJ. The mission of St. Mary's Abbey, as witnessed by the vowed lives, prayer, and work of the Benedictine monks who have committed their lives here, has its apostolic expression in the sponsorship and animation of Delbarton School.

Our magnificent grounds include the 1966 Abbey Church and Monastery, Vincent House (the Old Monastery, built in 1939 and renovated in 2021), the Abbey Garden and Orchard, Old Main (the original Kountze Mansion, built in 1883), and the School’s academic buildings and athletic facilities.

The distinct institutions of the Benedictine monastic community and Delbarton School are the pillars of the single reality known as St. Mary's Abbey.  Both the monastic and school communities strive daily to faithfully live out their common Benedictine mission, inspired and guided by the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Rule of St. Benedict.
