On February 1, over sixty class reps from across the decades met at the Madison Hotel for the annual Winter Class Reps Dinner, a working meeting that was a great opportunity to reconnect with Delbarton friends while hearing news about the School. Alumni were joined by six members of the Class of 2022 who were there to represent the current senior class and report to alumni on life at Delbarton today.
After cocktail hour and the group photo below, Fr. Edward Seton Fittin, OSB '82 said a prayer to open the meeting.
Alumni Association President Chris Bury ’91 kicked off the night by welcoming his fellow alums to the annual meeting. Following the welcoming remarks, Steve Block ’71 and Ryan Dooley ’91 updated the reps on the Delbarton Fund. Next up, Matt Gilfillan ’86 and Joe Colangelo ’03 discussed networking and mentorship opportunities as they emphasized the importance of connecting not only with young alumni, but with current Delbarton students as well. Dean of Admissions Dr. David Donovan confirmed with palpable enthusiasm that the School continues to attract a large group of well-qualified applicants. Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd shared news of the North Field House Complex Construction as well as mentioning Delbarton’s Strategic Plan initiative and reminded the reps to encourage their classmates to respond to the recent emailed survey. Director of Alumni & Development Craig Paris '82 and Bury presented the Joseph R. McDonough ’68 Award to Edward James DaCosta ’10 and Patrick Finn '13 for the leadership and initiative they have demonstrated as active members of the Alumni Association. Named in honor of the late Joseph R. McDonough, an Alumni Association President from 1986-89, the award recognizes an alumnus who over the past year best has exemplified the tireless commitment that McDonough gave to Delbarton and his fellow alumni throughout his years as a dedicated member of the Alumni Association.
Abbot Richard Cronin, O.S.B. offered the closing prayer to last night’s meeting. We thank all who joined us for this very positive state-of-Delbarton report.
