Walking With Purpose at Delbarton
Jessica Fiddes

On May 8, DMG’S bible study group Walking With Purpose (WWP) hosted its annual luncheon in Old Main to celebrate another year sharing a Catholic women’s ministry together.

Walking With Purpose was launched in 2002 by Lisa Brenninkmeyer, a Catholic convert who discovered a lack of modern, relatable Catholic Bible studies for young mothers. Today, WWP is active in 593 parishes in the U.S., Canada and Europe and has enabled over 70,000 women to deepen their relationships with Jesus Christ.

Some might ask, what does ‘walking’ have to do with bible study? “As a group, we’re walking side-by-side through life with each other and Jesus Christ,” explained one guest, and the group exercises its faith on a weekly basis at Delbarton.

Each Wednesday, members of the DMG’s independent WWP chapter meet in Vincent House at St. Mary’s Abbey and break into cohorts of a dozen or so women to study the Bible together. To give the program structure, WWP offers online small group leader resources featuring training videos, helpful tools, and organizational resources to support the Delbarton mothers leading WWP small group studies.

The DMG chapter of WWP is led by Dyanna Pepitone P ’25 and Lisa Donini P ’14, ’17, ‘19, ‘25 and has one hundred registrants. Typically, about half that number of participates show up each week, and the close friendships they build through the WWP program were obvious at the annual luncheon. Each meeting begins with a potluck lunch and members sign up to donate food and beverages. The group is open to current and past Delbarton mothers and makes a wonderful bridge for women whose sons have moved on to college and beyond yet have the desire to stay connected to each other and to Delbarton (The DMG Book Club is another all-inclusive group that serves the same purpose).

Delbarton mothers -- current or past -- who are interested in joining the DMG’s very active WWP group are encouraged to email Dyanna Pepitone or Lisa Donini. Thank you to all who attended this annual celebration of another gratifying year of Walking With Purpose at Delbarton!
