UPS CFO Brian Newman '86 is 2022 Delbarton Commencement Speaker

On June 5, Delbarton will welcome back Brian Newman '86 as our 2022 Commencement speaker. In keeping with the School's Global Debarton ethos, Newman, the Chief Financial Office of United Parcel Service (UPS), has traveled the world during his post-Delbarton personal and professional life. 

In his role at UPS, Newman is responsible for the strategic financial leadership, which includes communication of the firm’s strategy and performance to investors and managing the capital structure to maximize shareholder return. He oversees the company’s financial processes and controls and has responsibility for Global Procurement, Real Estate and Global Business Services (GBS), including customer service. He is also responsible for the company’s Capital Market activity including Treasury, M&A and UPS Capital. He is a member of the UPS Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the company’s CEO.

Prior to UPS, Newman spent 26 years with PepsiCo and served in a variety of finance leadership roles spanning Europe, Asia, North & South America. He also led PepsiCo’s Global Operations organization, started up the global e-Commerce business and was the Chief Strategy officer for the company. Prior to PepsiCo Brian began his career as an Investment Banker working for PaineWebber in NYC.

Newman is a proud graduate of Delbarton Class of 1986 and an alumnus of Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. He earned an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business and completed Harvard Business Schools’ executive program for global leadership. He has lived and worked in five of the seven continents and had the opportunity to visit nearly 100 countries through his global career. He is a dual citizen of Ireland and the U.S. and is married with four children.
