Ready, Set -- GO for 2024-2025!
Jessica Fiddes

Energy is building on campus as Delbarton embarks on its 86th year delivering Benedictine Catholic education to young men…and we are ready!

First step: On August 22-23, we met incoming faculty and staff members who enjoyed a two-day Orientation program hosted by Assistant Headmaster for Faculty Affairs Josh Hartle.

On August 25, new students and their families enjoyed the New Family Mass and Picnic on campus where they had an opportunity to socialize and check out new items at the Delbarton Shop.

Next up, on August 28, we welcomed 30 seventh graders, 142 9th graders, and 3 transfer students,  bringing this year’s total enrollment to 637 students.

In fall 2024 we also say hello to five new teachers:·

  •  Doyin Adigun (French; French Club)
  •  Andrew Fostiropoulos ’20 (Full-time substitute; Forensics)
  •  Craig Giannino (Full-time substitute; Varsity Baseball, Freshman Soccer)
  •  Amy Rothenberg (P/T Visual & Performing Arts)
  •  Owen Steele (Physics; Research in Science Club, Engineering & Robotics)

Welcome back to four familiar faces who are returning to Delbarton or assuming new teaching roles:·

  • Jonathan Currie (Theology; College Essay Tutor, Campus Ministry)·
  • Nicholas Russo (History; Football)·
  • Luke Chiarolanzio ’11 (Physical Education)
  • Bernardo Stival ’19 (Math & Computer Science; Admissions)

We are also pleased to welcome our fourth class of Alumni Teaching Fellows. These three recent college graduates from Delbarton Class of 2020 will serve as teaching and extracurricular assistants:·

  • Khryi Fortenberry ’20 (Theology and Social Justice; Middle School Soccer)·
  • Juan Hermo ’20 (Middle School Science; Diversity Among Peers)
  • Jerry Jabbour ’20 (History and AP Economics; Varsity Football and Basketball)

Of course, campus is never truly quiet at the school that never sleeps, and Summer 2024 was no different. Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd, O.S.B. recently shared some of the more notable permanent improvements that took place on our 187-acre campus over the past three months:

  • New bathrooms and changing room at South Gate Fields
  • Generators at the South Gate Cottage and the Blue House/Old Convent. All employee housing units are now protected by generators
  • New carpet and lighting in the FAC theater
  • New scoreboard at Ryan Family Field
  • Two full-size school buses and two vans added to the in-house Delbarton bus fleet
  • Campus-wide fiber optic cable upgrades
  • Replacement of the original 1883 Old Main roof (scheduled to be completed by the end of September)

Pallets of slate, which originally filled half of the Old Main parking lot, dwindled to a handful as replacing the original roof on this iconic campus building progressed this summer.

Finally, in our continuing effort to streamline Delbarton communications, in mid-August we shared the first issue of Delbarton Weekly, an e-newsletter that integrates school and parent organization news in one quick read.  On August 19, the new Delbarton mobile app debuted on the App Store and Google Play to keep our community connected to news, events, a new parent portal, and more. This year we will also continue to use Vidigami, a content management platform where families can download and upload their favorite photos.

So…welcome back, Green Wave. We’ve missed you and can’t wait to see everyone back on campus as we launch another dynamic school year at Delbarton!
