For generations of Delbarton alumni, Old Main was known as "Old Everything." Long before today's campus took shape, it served as the heart of school life, housing classrooms, the dining hall, dormitories for boarding students, and nearly every aspect of the Delbarton experience.

A glimpse inside Old Main in 1949, when generations of Delbarton students lived, learned, and built the Brotherhood under one roof.

Today, Old Main continues to play a central role in the Delbarton Brotherhood through the O'Neill Alumni Center and the brand new Delbarton Career Center (DCC), a dedicated space designed to strengthen professional connections among Delbarton graduates.

Reflecting on the significance of the Alumni Career Center and its place within Old Main, Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd, O.S.B., said, "Old Main connects generations of students, monks, teachers, and alumni. It is the ideal home for a space devoted to lifelong brotherhood, mentorship, and vocation because it reminds us that Delbarton's mission is not confined to four or six years."

The Delbarton Career Center has already begun connecting alumni through initiatives like this summer's inaugural Alumni Career Fairs, bringing together members of the Long Green Line with employers across a variety of industries.

Following the success of the first round of Career Fairs, Director of the Delbarton Career Center James Gallombardo '81 noted the overwhelmingly positive response from attendees. "Some alumni who attend their college career fairs said there were about as many employers attending, but with hundreds of students, they might only be able to speak with one employer.  With our career fairs attended by 50-60 alumni, they were able to speak with all employers."

Located on the third floor of Old Main, the Career Center serves as a gathering place where alumni can connect with fellow graduates, mentor current students, expand their professional networks, and support one another throughout their careers. Through networking events, career fairs, and the Delbarton Alumni Mentorship Program, the center continues to strengthen the Brotherhood well beyond graduation.

"While the majority of our alumni who will take full advantage of the Delbarton Career Center are those in college or early in their careers, we are here for all alumni at every age," said Gallombardo. "An alumnus in the middle of his career may find himself underemployed, or looking for a change in employer, industry or role. Do not hesitate to come to us for help."

That mission reflects Delbarton's commitment to fostering lifelong relationships rooted in service, mentorship, and community. "When an alumnus mentors a current student, opens a door for an internship, speaks honestly about his own path, or helps a younger graduate navigate a difficult career decision, he is living out the best of Delbarton," said Fr. Michael.

The center is housed within the O'Neill Alumni Center, honoring the life and legacy of Peter L. O'Neill '59, whose dedication to Delbarton continues to inspire generations of alumni. We are grateful to the many alumni, families, and friends whose generosity helped bring this space to life and continues to strengthen opportunities for the Delbarton community.

As Old Main has evolved over the years, its core purpose has remained consistent: bringing the Delbarton community together. While the building no longer houses classrooms or dormitories, it continues to foster the lifelong connections that define the Delbarton Brotherhood.
