Niyi Odewade '13 Visits Delbarton to Speak with DAP Students
Meghan Podimsky

On May 20, Delbarton alumnus Niyi Odewade ’13, accompanied by his mother, stopped by Delbarton to speak during lunch to students gathered in the DAP Office.

After Delbarton, Odewade graduated from Amherst College and recently earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He spoke to our students about how to find their way, and especially addressed seniors as they prepare to graduate and begin college this fall. “Find your next steps," he said. "Your transformation begins now.” Odewade encouraged his younger brothers as he discussed his journey from Delbarton to Amherst to Harvard Medical School. Next, he moves onto a surgical residency at Harvard's Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.

One student asked Odewade about how he maintained his confidence when he participates in surgery. “It’s not a matter of confidence, it’s a matter of doing the best you can go help people as you surround yourself with people who want you to succeed. And never worry alone!” he said. “Confidence is built by seeing how you can make someone’s life better the next day."

The Delbarton community salutes Niyi Odewade on his graduation from medical school and and we forward to hearing more about his personal journey into the medical profession!
