Following the Benedictine Hallmark of hospitality and service, Delbarton encourages its young men to serve others. We understand that, beyond the transformative power of helping other people, the lessons learned by sharing our time and skills unselfishly can be life-changing.
This semester, Delbarton is pleased to offer three new service opportunities for students to get involved in. The first is with David's Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation. After beating stage IV cancer in 2010, David Caldarella created his non-profit David's Dream to give families affected by a cancer hope and help through financial assistance, wellness resources and support during treatment. By getting involved with this non-profit, Delbarton students will help assemble packages and cards to support pediatric cancer patients.
Delbarton students also have the opportunity this spring to volunteer their time with We've Got Friends, a non-profit designed to offer a space for teenagers with special needs to call their own. By getting involved in We've Got Friends, students will work together on campus to create a variety of social events, like trivia or board games, for teenagers with special needs.
Combining tennis with community service, this semester Delbarton will host six events with ACEing Autism on May 5, 12, 19, June 2, 9, and 16. All Delbarton students are welcome to teach as well as participate in tennis matches with children who have autism. To learn more about how to get involved in these three new service opportunities, please contact Delbarton Director of Mission and Ministry Matthew White.
