Each year, Delbarton designates a Distinguished Educator who manifests qualities of personal and professional excellence that significantly impact the lives of young people. In annually presenting its Distinguished Educator Award, the School honors a worthy individual, and shines a light on the dignity and value of the teaching profession. Since its inception in 1975, forty-seven educators have received this distinction and were acknowledged as models of ability and devotion in educating the young people of New Jersey.

On May 31, at the final Faculty Meeting of the 2022-2023 school year, Jacqueline Conti Muratore, the Assistant Director for Faculty, Curriculum, and Planning at Mount Saint Mary Academy in Watchung, New Jersey, received the Delbarton School 2023 Distinguished Educator Award.  Delbarton Director of Admissions Dr. David Donovan served as master of ceremonies during the presentation and Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd, OSB presented the Award to Muratore. Donovan said, "Jackie is a natural person to honor with the award this year...she is devoted to teaching and to her own learning to make herself a better person for those she teaches."

Other speakers included Donna Toryac, Mount St. Mary Academy Director of Enrollment Management who said, "Jackie is a lifelong learner, filled with wisdom, zeal and grace."

Two alumna of The Mount also spoke. Bevin Freeman '17, pictured below on left, a Delbarton teacher of history, said, "Speaking for my classmates, we adored you...you are the blueprint and, as a teacher, I am trying to emulate you." Caroline Brady '19, on right, daughter of retiring Delbarton AP Macroeconomics teacher Tom Brady, said, "When we struggled, she would praise us for articulating our confusion...my love for math and learning blossomed in her classroom."

Muratore's husband Steve, who teaches at The Mount, and her parents Joe and Kathy Conti, sister Kathleen, also a teacher, as well as a collection of proud colleagues witnessed the presentation surrounded by Delbarton educators and staff members.

Mrs. Muratore earned her B.A. magna cum laude from Cornell University, where she studied engineering and music, and received two Masters Degrees in education from Columbia University, where she concentrated in educational technology and curriculum design.  A lifelong learner, Mrs. Muratore also received her M.S. in applied data science from the University of Michigan.  With over fifteen years of teaching experience in various disciplines, she is a seasoned online instructor, an AP teacher and Reader for the College Board, and enjoys numerous teaching certifications in fields as diverse as music and mathematics.

Since 2011 when she joined the faculty at The Mount, Mrs. Muratore has led the Strategic Planning Committee; moderated the Music Ministry Club, the Math League, and the Girls Who Code Club; served as a Eucharistic Minister; and deepened her commitment to the Sisters of Mercy as a Mercy Associate.  She also has chaired Middle States Accreditation Teams for independent schools throughout the tri-state area.  Mrs. Muratore lives in Pennsylvania with her husband of seven years, Stephen, whom she met and works with at The Mount.

The Delbarton community salutes Mount St. Mary Academy's Jacqueline Conti Muratore on this well-deserved recognition that acknowledges her many years of committed devotion to the profession of teaching.
