On Tuesday night, June 27, on the first day of the 2023 U.S. National Swimming Championship, Delbarton alum Jack Alexy '21 won the 100 meter freestyle final in a time of 47.93. Not only did this swim earn Alexy his first National title, but it also secured him a spot on Team USA at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan July 14-30. "This morning, I had my best time by far and tonight, I just wanted to take the first 50 out and put my head down and bring it home," Alexy said. "I thought I got 3-4 when I finished. I was hurting really hard the last few meters. There are a lot of college guys stepping up."
Alexy entered the meet with a best time of 48.69 from the 2021 Olympic Trials, where he finished 10th. After qualifying 2nd during the prelims session with a personal best time of 47.75, Alexy led the final from start to finish. Jack will compete in the 50 meter freestyle on Saturday, July 1, for an opportunity to qualify for the World Championships in an additional event. Congrats to Jack on this incredible accomplishment!
