Delbarton's Honor Our Veterans program took place on Veterans Day 2024, November 11 at 3pm in the Abbey Cemetery when a special three-part arrangement of Taps for three trumpets was played, and Delbarton students placed flags on the graves of ten monks from St. Mary's Abbey who served in the US military. Included in that number are... Army Veterans:
Navy Veterans:
Marine Veteran:
Students and alumni were invited to attend to pay tribute to ALL Delbarton veterans, and veterans and active duty military in attendance received a special blessing from Fr. Edward Seon Fittin, O.S.B. '82 during the ceremony. The plaque below, which is on display in the hallway leading from Trinity to St. Benedict Hall, lists the names and service branches of all Delbarton alumni veterans and active duty soldiers. This plaque reminds Delbarton students daily of their older alumni brothers' committment and sacrifices. Delbarton values and recognizes the commitment and sacrifice of those who have served, or are actively serving, in our nation's military. If you are a veteran or current service member, please let us know HERE. Thank you for your service to our country! On November 16, following the Alumni Day of Reflection, "Taps" will be played once again and the flags will be removed. Thank you to today's trumpet players, including teacher Andrew Lyman, and student musicians Thomas Curcio '26, and Alasdair Eck '26, and to our student and adult flag bearers. We are also grateful to the organizer of today's ceremony, Jim Gallombardo '81, pictured here on right below with his Delbarton classmate Kurt Kraus '81. In the program, Gallombardo wrote, "We owe a great debt of gratitude to all of our active military and veterans of our United States Armed Forces, including the ten priests and religious brothers from the Order of St. Benedict."
