Hispanic Heritage 2021 Celebration at Delbarton
Meghan Podimsky

Last night October 6, Delbarton celebrated the rich and dynamic tapestry of Hispanic culture with a lively and colorful outdoor party on campus. Enjoy some of the highlights from the night...

The October weather was on our side as Delbarton students (and a team of teachers!) took to the Old Main lawn for the second annual Copa América Delbarton Tournament. As the country-versus-country fútbol games unfolded throughout the night, the finals took place as the sun set over Delbarton. After a close finish, Team Guatemala took home the trophy as they won first place.

Meanwhile, up top, country flags hung off Old Main in the evening breeze as they set the scene for the night ahead. In the Garden, Delbarton parents accessorized tables with cultural items to educate and entertain passersby. Busy food vendors fed the crowd some scrumptious options, including piping hot Cubano sandwiches with yucca fries, a variety of empanadas, and tacos with all the fixings.

To close out the night, guests were able to participate in some dance lessons right outside of the Fine Arts Center; from the bachata to salsa, nearly everyone who came was picking up on the moves and following along by the end of the event!

All night long, Latin music was performed by a live band, filling the campus creating the perfect musical background for this vibrant celebration.

Thank you to all the students and parents whose creativity and hard work produced such a memorable night at Delbarton. A salute also to our Diversity Coordinators Ms. Jenna Gomez and Mr. Tony Negrin for guiding the way to this very special celebration.
