Featured AP Artist: Sahej Sandhu '22
Jessica Fiddes

This year, Delbarton is blessed with thirteen artists in the Class of 2022 who shared their work at an AP Art Exhibit in the FAC during the month of February. To give each of these talented young men the audience he deserves, we are highlighting each artist with an excerpt from his Artist Statement, a sample of his art and a link to his digital portfolio.

Our thirteenth and final featured artist is Sahej Sandhu '22 (click here for Sahej's complete digital portfolio)...

Sahej says this about his art in his Artist Statement:

"As a child, I was not an artist. Any time I would pick up a pencil, it would inevitably turn into a mess of frustrated scribbles. Even so, many people labeled me as an artist, a dreamer, lost in his own imagination. But, no matter what I tried, I never felt like a real artist. I took the label and painted over it, turning the artist into the mundane: I became pedestrian. I still loved art, though. I picked up a camera. In Studio Art, I dusted my palms with charcoal and smudged them with graphite too. Mr. Rodi taught me to love the rhythm of a paintbrush on canvas. I was blooming as an artist, like watercolor on wetted paper."

Below is a sample of Sahej's art: Apex (24"x15", digital media, acrylic paint, chalk pastel). We salute him and his fellow AP Art artists for their exceptional achievements in the arts at Delbarton this year!
