Featured AP Artist: James Royse '22
Jessica Fiddes

This year, Delbarton is blessed with thirteen artists in the Class of 2022 who shared their work at an AP Art Exhibit in the FAC during the month of February. To give each of these talented young men the audience he deserves, we are highlighting each artist with an excerpt from his Artist Statement, a sample of his art and a link to his digital portfolio.

Our twelfth featured artist is Student Body President James Royse '22 (click here for James's complete digital portfolio)...

James says this about his art in his Artist Statement:

"Unlike sport, I have not always been very passionate about my art. In my young days, art was simply a way to pass time, to doze off, or entertain myself. I never found very much value in my art other than stamping doodles on my wall. When I began my artistic journey at Delbarton, I realized that I might actually have some talent. Whether it was doing a sketchbook assignment or a painting, I saw that my art revealed a special talent of mine that I had never seen before. Medium by medium, my artistic journey over the past six years at Delbarton has led me to the love of light and color in my work."

Below is a sample of James's art: Nails (22"x16.25", oil pastel and digital media). We salute him and his fellow AP Art artists for their exceptional achievements in the arts at Delbarton this year!
