Featured AP Artist: Luke McChesney '22

This year, Delbarton is blessed with thirteen artists in the Class of 2022 who shared their work at an AP Art Exhibit in the FAC during the month of February. To give each of these talented young men the audience he deserves, we are highlighting each artist with an excerpt from his Artist Statement, a sample of his art and a link to his digital portfolio.

Our eighth featured artist is Luke McChesney '22 (click here for Luke's complete digital portfolio)...

Luke says this about his art in his Artist Statement:

"French Impressionist Edgar Degas once said, “Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” My passion for the Arts began at an early age, when I was fortunate enough to participate in a classical art course at 8 years old, where my love for French Impressionism was born. For my thirteenth birthday, my parents gifted me a camera, which inspired me to explore the world of macro photography for myself. I collected many small items like coins, plants and insects and magnified them to a scale that no naked eye could observe on its own. I discovered that true beauty can be found in anything and true beauty is rarely evident at first glance, but requires a deeper look into the hidden and seemingly insignificant details to be interpreted."

Below is a sample of Luke's art: Ripples (15"x22", oil pastel and digital media). We salute him and his fellow AP Art artists for their exceptional achievements in the arts at Delbarton this year!
