Delbarton’s Brian Theroux Honored as 2024 Most Influential Teacher
Meghan Podimsky

Delbarton School is proud to announce that Brian Theroux, one of our dedicated science teachers, has been recognized as a 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Most Influential Teacher. Since the inception of the Presidential Scholars program in 1964, initiated by President Lyndon B. Johnson, fewer than 5,900 teachers have been bestowed with this prestigious recognition. Mr. Theroux’s inclusion in this distinguished group underscores his extraordinary dedication and the significant role he plays in fostering academic excellence.

At Delbarton, Theroux serves as the Science Department Chairperson and teaches science himself. Beyond the classroom, he also leads the Research in Science Club, Robotics and Engineering Club, coaches Cross Country, and is the BEADS Service Trip Moderator, demonstrating his commitment to both education and extracurricular excellence.

In a letter of commendation sent to Mr. Theroux, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel A. Cardona praised his commitment, stating, “Dedicated teachers are the reason our students learn, excel, and move forward. Few professions have the ability to change and shape lives so completely as ours. As an educator myself, I know personally the impact you have every day in students' lives, and I couldn't be more proud to know you are my colleague. Please accept my congratulations on behalf of the President, the Commission on Presidential Scholars, and all of us at the U.S. Department of Education. We appreciate all that you do for your students each and every day of every year. Your work directly impacts our future.”

The Delbarton community congratulates Mr. Theroux for this well-deserved accolade and celebrates his ongoing contributions to the field of education!
