Pig Roast 2023

On June 1, a large gathering Delbarton alumni met on a late spring evening in the Senior Garden for their annual June Dinner meeting (aka Pig Roast) where the weather was perfect for dinner al fresco under the tents.  After a social hour and a brief meeting during which the 2023-2024 board was announced, guests helped themselves to a buffet dinner of roast pork with all the fixings. 

But first, there was business to attend to.   Alumni Association Vice President Joe Ferraro '95 shared remarks from President John Ferramosca '05 and reminded alumni to participate in the evening's Delbarton Together Power Hours. Stay tuned for an impressive update on this year's Delbarton Together fundraising initiative. 

Next, alumni heard from Headmster Fr. Michael Tidd, OSB, who thanked alumni for their continued support of their alma mater.

Former Alumni Association President Chris Bury '91, P'19,'20,'23 then introduced 2023-24 Board members, many of whom are pictured below.

Assistant Headmaster for Advancement & Alumni Craig Paris '82, P'13,'15,'19 then lauded retiring Attendance Officer and Receptionist Lorraine Petrolino for her many years of service to Delbarton where she greeted everyone with a smile and her consistently welcoming demeanor.

Petrolino thanked alumni for making her years at Delbarton so special, and members of the Class of 2023 gathered around her for the photo below.

The late American author Maya Angelou wrote, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Lorraine Petrolino made every person she came into contact with feel sincerely welcome and acknowledged, and we all will miss her very much. 

Next, Paris announced the recipient of the "Red" Green '56 Fighting Spirit Award, and presented the award to hockey and lacrosse player Nick Faccone '23 for his persistence, composure and leadership during his years at Delbarton. We congratulate Nick and his parents, John and Jacqueline Faccone on this well-earned special recognition.

Guests then helped themselves to roast pork, hotdogs, hamburgers and side dishes, and alumni from across the decades lingered in the Garden to trade stories and catch up. Thank you to all who joined us last night, and onward and upward into 2023-2024 for the Long Green Line of the Delbarton Alumni Association!
