Delbarton Swim Team Spends Time with Saturdays in Motion

On Saturday, December 6, members of the Green Wave swim team, along with coaches and volunteers, joined the Saturdays in Motion (SIM) program at the Somerset Hills YMCA to spend the afternoon helping children and families who benefit from this wonderful community initiative.

SIM is the country’s longest-running non-public recreational program for children with autism and special needs. Through guided gym activities and pool time, teen and adult volunteers partner one-on-one with children, offering support and a fun, welcoming environment.

Our swim team and coaches embraced the opportunity to serve, bringing energy, encouragement, and big smiles to the afternoon’s activities. The Delbarton volunteers even brought gifts for the children, adding to the joy and festivity of the day. “The Delbarton student athletes are without a doubt a credit to the Delbarton community,” said SIM Founder Art Raynes. “A tremendous thanks to Coach Savidge. He is not only a wonderful mentor to the student athletes, but he is a hands-on volunteer, always ready to work with children in the program himself.”

We salute our Green Wave swimmers for their generosity of time and spirit. Through their service, they helped create a meaningful experience for children, families, and fellow volunteers alike.
