Delbarton Sophomores Attend Annual Retreat to Romero Center
Meghan Podimsky

On November 2, Delbarton's Sophomore class traveled to Romero Center in Camden, NJ for the first Sophomore Retreat of the school year. Led by Director of Mission and Ministry Matt White and Assistant Director of Mission and Ministry Mike Fitzgerald, the group of thirty-five students and six chaperones arrived Wednesday evening and learned about Camden and Catholic Social Teaching.

On Thursday and Friday, they felt the authenticity of Catholic social teaching as they divided into groups and traveled to different worksites to assist local people in need. The service sites included ShareUrban Promise, Mercy Center Ministries, Neighborhood Center, and MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) in Philadelphia. This retreat was designed to immerse our young men in the precepts of Catholic social teaching and to experience the power of empathy. Mr. Fitzgerald explained, "It was a great and eye-opening experience for the students!"

Thank you to our faculty chaperones who accompanied this group of young men to Camden, and to the boys themselves for embracing the retreat process with such open minds and hearts. Enjoy some of the highlights from their retreat below...
