The Delbarton Alumni Association continues to strengthen its ties and commitment to community service with the recent launch of the Ora et Labora (Prayer and Service) Committee. The inaugural on-campus project took place on Sunday, March 3, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the alumni community.
At our recent NYAC reception, Joe Colangelo '03 shared the details of the upcoming event. Emphasizing the inclusive nature of the project, Colangelo stated, "This requires no specialized skills, just some energy, time, and willingness to clear and move brush, brambles, sticks, and stones."
The committee's first endeavor brought alumni together for a hands-on experience, fostering camaraderie and a shared sense of responsibility. Participants spent the day clearing and tidying the orchard, contributing to the necessary step ahead of any fence repair or replacement as the crew cleared brush in the vicinity of the East fence.
One notable highlight of the event was the distribution of custom-embossed Delbarton work gloves to every participating alum. Colangelo branded the gloves right on site in the orchard, emphasizing the symbolic connection between the alumni and the spirit of service.
We thank everyone who joined us on this spring-like day. The success of this initial project sets the stage for more exciting initiatives from the Ora et Labora Committee. Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming projects from this inspiring alumni initiative! Enjoy some photos from this day of service below...
