At Delbarton School, we're thrilled to mark 25 years of partnership with SAGE Dining Services! Over the years, we've celebrated many successes, navigated challenges, and remained steadfast in our commitment to supporting our students' well-being, both mentally and physically.

SAGE Dining Services was co-founded in 1990 by Tina and Paco Rodriguez, starting from the basement of their Baltimore home. They saw the need for a dining service that would treat independent schools and private colleges with fairness and integrity. From the outset, SAGE understood that food could profoundly impact students. Named for Setting A Good Example®, SAGE's mission has been to uphold excellence and make ethical decisions. They customize their programs to meet the unique tastes and preferences of each community, promote a culture of respect, and focus on personal growth for students, staff, and their Team Members. Starting with just four accounts, including one in New Jersey, SAGE now provides delicious and nutritious meals to schools across 37 states, the District of Columbia, and Canada.

SAGE also prioritizes food allergy safety with a comprehensive plan to protect students with food allergies. This includes thorough training for Team Members, ingredient tagging, and clear labeling of menu items containing the 12 most common allergens. Starting this year, students with common food allergies will benefit from a new daily option in the dining hall: Free Style®. Free Style® offers delicious, flavorful menu items made without the top 12 allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, milk, gluten, eggs, fish, wheat, sesame, soy, mustard, and sulfites), making it easier than ever for students to find safe options. For any allergy-related issues, contact SAGE Dining Director, James DeSilvestri.
