The Delbarton Middle School has launched another exciting year of the Alumni Middle School Speaker Series, welcoming Mr. Jim Gallombardo ’81 as the first guest of the season.
Organized by Middle School Director Rick Cimino, the series aims to inspire students to set goals, think ambitiously, and build essential skills early on. "Middle school is not too early to begin thinking about what one wants to do when one grows up," Cimino noted when he introduced the series last year.
Mr. Gallombardo, a proud Delbarton graduate, shared insights from his accomplished career in technology. After graduating from La Salle University in 1985 with a degree in computer science, he spent 38 years in the field, retiring from IBM in 2023. Gallombardo’s career journey—from founding his own IT consulting firm to managing major projects at AT&T and IBM—spanned telecommunications, healthcare, and finance. He holds two IT patents and is a certified Project Management Professional.
As a former Delbarton boarder and athlete, Mr. Gallombardo remains deeply connected to his alma mater. He now serves on the Delbarton Alumni Board, chairs the Alumni Networking & Mentorship committee, and volunteers with the Knights of Columbus, where he has earned Presidential Volunteer Service Awards for his dedicated service.
With the Alumni Middle School Speaker Series underway, Delbarton’s middle schoolers are already gaining valuable insights from alumni like Mr. Gallombardo, who exemplify the power of goal-setting and hard work.
