A New Journey Begins for Delbarton’s Newest Students
Meghan Podimsky

Delbarton extends a warm welcome to all new students as our Brotherhood grows—Wednesday, August 27, marks the beginning of their journey in the Green Wave community.

From the moment they arrived, there was an unmistakable energy in the air. The day began in the Fine Arts Center, where Headmaster Fr. Michael Tidd, O.S.B., and other members of the administration offered a heartfelt welcome to the incoming students and their families. The Council of Seniors, led by the Student Body President, also took the stage to share words of encouragement and advice, offering a glimpse of the leadership and brotherhood that define the Delbarton experience.

This year’s orientation brought together a wide range of new faces: seventh graders in the Class of 2029, ninth graders in the Class of 2027, and transfer students joining various grades. While each group is at a different stage in their academic journey, all were united by the same sense of excitement, curiosity, and anticipation as they stepped into their new roles as members of the Delbarton community.

Throughout the day, students participated in grade-level sessions designed to ease the transition into school life. These sessions covered everything from academic expectations and daily routines to technology setup and the values that shape the Delbarton mission. Transfer students had the opportunity to connect in a dedicated session, giving them a strong foundation as they begin this new chapter together.

Advisors and upperclassmen played a major role in guiding the day, leading icebreakers and small group discussions to help students feel comfortable and connected. A lively scavenger hunt across campus encouraged exploration and teamwork, while also helping students learn the layout of their new home.

In the afternoon, students gathered once again for a spirited introduction to the Delbarton school hymn, led by Music Director David Blazier. They also heard from members of the Mission and Ministry team, including Director Matt White, who introduced them to Delbarton’s robust retreat and service programs—integral parts of the school’s commitment to forming men of character and compassion.

By the end of the day, the nervous energy of the morning had transformed into a sense of belonging. Laughter echoed in the hallways, new friendships had been sparked, and the bonds of brotherhood were already beginning to take root.

As the first day of classes approaches on Thursday, August 28, Delbarton is proud to officially welcome these students into the fold. Their journey has only just begun, but already they are part of something greater—a community grounded in tradition, strengthened by faith, and inspired by purpose.

Welcome to Delbarton, gentlemen, we’re glad you’re here!
