A Busy November for Delbarton Fathers and Friends
Meghan Podimsky

The very active Delbarton parent group Fathers & Friends has had a busy couple of weeks as members were called to friendship and service. With camaraderie, steak and refreshments on deck, the first annual Fathers & Friends Beefsteak Dinner event was a huge success as over 100 Delbarton Dads gathered on campus in the Estabrook Dining Hall on Saturday evening, November 5.

Father & Friends members re-grouped as they began their series of service days with nourishNJ on November 14. Delbarton dads and their sons are volunteering with nourish.NJ handing out groceries to those in need. nourish.NJ is a nonprofit that creates lasting solutions to the problems of hunger, homelessness and poverty. This was the first of many volunteer opportunities Fathers and Friends has planned with nourishNJ this upcoming school year. "It's a special experience to share with your son," said Fathers and Friends President Michael Dangler P'20 and '23.

On November 17, Fathers and Friends hosted their annual Night of Dialogue with fellow Delabrton dad Captain Andy Smith, U.S. Navy (Ret.) P'21, '24 and '26 as the night's guest speaker. With 75 dads and sons in attendance, Captain Smith discussed how leadership and teamwork are what shaped his career path and expressed the importance of both to the audience. We thank Captain Smith for his service and for coming to Delbarton to share more about his career path and the lessons he's learned along the way.
