As part of Delbarton's annual AP Art Exhibit, we continue our AP Artist Spotlight series highlighting the creativity and vision of our senior artists. This week, we feature Egor Andreev ’26, whose Sustained Investigation explores how nature and architecture can evoke memory, nostalgia, and a sense of home.

For Egor, art has always been a way to express emotion: "I got a huge amount of pleasure and joy from having another way to express my feelings and emotions, not just through the finished paintings themselves, but simply through the paints and colors I could use," he said in his Artist Statement.

Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Egor has always been inspired by the natural world. After moving to the United States, he began to see nature in a different way. "After moving to America, I realized that nature doesn't just reflect your current emotional state; it can also bring back nostalgic memories of the places where I spent my bright childhood years," he said.

That realization became the foundation of his portfolio. Combining landscapes with architectural elements like columns and railroad tracks, Egor explores how familiar places can reconnect us with memories of where we came from.

Working primarily with paint, markers, and pastels, Egor draws inspiration from Russian landscape painter Ivan Shishkin and hopes to continue refining his understanding of color, light, and realism as he studies winter landscapes.
