This year, eight talented artists from Delbarton’s Class of 2025 showcased their full Sustained Investigations at the annual AP Art Exhibit in the Fine Arts Center. To highlight the creativity and dedication behind each senior artist’s work, we will be featuring them in our annual AP Artist Spotlight series.
Meet the first artist in this year's series, Harry Tedesco:
For Tedesco, the Jersey Shore is more than just a place—it’s a palette of vibrant colors, textures, and energy. Having spent summers in Normandy Beach, he has long been captivated by its dynamic landscapes, from the shifting sands to the architectural charm of its beach houses. His AP Art Sustained Investigation explores the scenery and atmosphere of this coastal haven through painting.
Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Harry began his journey with realism, carefully capturing the details of the Shore. However, as he developed his style, he embraced bold brushstrokes and textural techniques to depict the movement of water, the roughness of sand, and the lushness of foliage. Inspired by Edouard Vuillard’s expressive approach to nature, he introduced a more abstract perspective, flattening forms and emphasizing geometric shapes in his compositions.
With a focus on saturated, bright colors that reflect the liveliness of Normandy Beach, Harry continues to push the boundaries of his artistic vision. Looking ahead, he plans to further experiment with texture and abstraction, ensuring that each piece captures the essence of a place so deeply ingrained in his memories.
Well done, Harry! Check back for a new spotlight next week.
