Chess Club & Team

Cycling Club

Delbarton’s Economics Club will foster awareness of global economic issues and serve our community by organizing events of interest, sponsoring both internal and national competitions, and by promoting social responsibility. Forensics
-
The Forensic Society is the competitive speech and debate team at Delbarton. We welcome all 9th-12th graders, and we compete in multiple debate and speech categories at local, regional and national tournaments. Delbarton is an active member of the Paterson Catholic Forensic League, the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL), New Jersey Forensic League (NJFL), and the New Jersey District of the National Forensic League (NFL). Most tournaments are from the last weekend in October until the first weekend in March. Our regular season culminates in the NCFL and NFL National Championship tournaments in late May and mid-June, respectively. In 2010 and 2011, Delbarton debaters won the NCFL National Champion in Public Forum Debate, and in 2011, Delbarton debaters also won the NFL National Championship in Public Forum Debate. Delbarton is the only school ever to win both the NCFL and NFL titles in that event in the same year. Moderator: Bro. Kevin Tidd, OSB, Asst. Moderator: Mr. Philip Bauchan.

Middle School Consortium

The Middle School Consortium is a group of 10 schools, which sponsor an annual calendar of events to promote student growth. Activities include a spelling bee, general knowledge tournament, problem solving workshop, forensic tournament, tennis, and chess tournament. There is a limited number of students allowed to participate in each event. Announcements will be made by Mrs. Bonalsky during conference block and through daily announcements.

Model United Nations

This club, open to all student’s grades 9-12, meets every Monday to discuss international government, world geography, foreign policy and the United Nations. Club members debate and compete both here at Delbarton and at conferences held all over the Tri-State area. This year's UN team is planning conferences at Rutgers and Georgetown to start with more conferences and debates to follow in the winter and spring terms. Learn how to take pictures using a 35mm camera in manual mode. Also learn to develop black and white film and print photographs. The Delbarton Republicans Club is a student group for anyone interested in politics, specifically of the conservative persuasion. The club meets about two or three times a month in the mornings before school (breakfast is usually provided) where we talk about recent happenings in politics and basically anything involving the Republicans Party. Open to all students, grades 7-12, this association works closely with the Delbarton Alumni Association and provides support for events and activities, including Homecoming, phone-a-thons, and alumni gatherings and dinners.
