The speeches were delivered and the ballots counted. After today's Freshman Class Presidential election, the winner is...Sean Hager '16. How does one become elected as Freshman Class President?
Class moderator Jake Ross reports that the first step is to submit a nomination form supplying six reasons that you feel you are strong candidates to represent their classmates. Next, collect 25 signatures from classmates willing to nominate you. Once the names are collected, the freshman class sponsors a primary election in which the class chooses two final candidates. This year nearly a dozen young men believed that they would be strong representatives for their peers, "which speaks very highly of the potential leadership that exists in the class," says Mr. Ross.
As a result of the primary, the Class of 2016 chose Dan Cimaglia '16 and Sean Hager '16 as their two final candidates. The boys had one week to campaign and the final step was delivering election speeches to their class today during M Block. Each student spoke with confidence about what made him strong candidates and what he expected to accomplish while in office this year.
After the balloting, Hager was chosen as Freshman Class President. Sean Hager has attended Delbarton since 7th grade and last year he was elected Middle School Representative.
We congratulate Hager on his election, commend Dan Cimaglia on his excellent campaign and speech and salute all young men who submitted their names for office this year. Go Wave Elections!
