Green Wave Soccer Ranked #2 in US

Posted October 2, 2012

After outstanding play at the first Delbarton Soccer Invitational, Green Wave Varsity Soccer is ranked #2 in the country, says Head Coach Dave Donovan. He downplays the significance of the rankings but, hey, we're going with it. These guys have earned the props...so far they have 37 goals for, 2 against, with 7 shutouts. Not too shabby. Assistant Coach josh Hartle reports, "The Varsity soccer team is off to a high flying start. So far the boys have posted a 9-0 record including 7-0 in the conference. The highlight to date, though, was this past weekend as Green Wave Soccer hosted the inaugural Delbarton Soccer Invitational which included some of the top teams from across the mid-Atlantic region. The invited teams were Don Bosco Prep (NJ), Chaminade (NY), and Gonzaga College Prep (D.C.). (Delbarton alum Jim Kilroy is an assistant coach at Gonzaga.) On Saturday, Delbarton defeated (then #3 nationally ranked) Gonzaga by a score of 3-0. They followed up that victory with a hard fought 1-0 victory over Chaminade to claim the Championship of the Invitational. Hopefully, this is a stepping stone for more good things to come."

"Delbarton has earned the 1st seed in the Morris County Tournament which begins with a home game on this Sunday, October 7, at 1:00 against rival West Morris Central. Other games this week include a home game today against Mendham and a huge conference game at Randolph on Thursday. Come on out and support Green Wave soccer.”
