Delbarton Remembers
Posted September 11, 2012
On September 11, 2012 the Delbarton community recalls the victims of 9/11 with flags at half staff and this message from Headmaster Br. Paul Diveny to students, faculty and staff. "I do not want the day to pass... without remembering the loss that so many have experienced – both those who lost their lives, but also the families and friends of the victims. As the years roll on we also begin to remember those valiant members of the rescue teams that have died because of illnesses brought on by the heroic work they so selflessly performed. We mourn them all and commend them to the embrace of our loving God.
Wherever you are, whatever you are doing when you receive this message, I invite you to stop and in the quiet of your heart direct your thoughts and prayers to the dead and those they have left behind.
Lux aeterna luceat eis Domine cum sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es . . . May everlasting light shine upon them, O Lord, with your saints forever, for you are kind."
Eleven years ago 1,606 people lost spouses, and 3,051 children lost parents in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Included in that number were fifteen members of the Delbarton extended community: Bryan Bennett '94, Tom Clark P'18 (son of Richard Clark '53), David Campbell P'02, '04, Francis X.
