Congratulations to golfer John Voetsch '12 and to the Green Wave golf program on being named All Daily Record Golfer and Team of the Year. Read Daily Record coverage here.

Delbarton exited the dual meet season undefeated for the third straight year, winning all 20 of its matches. The team's impressive win streak is now 63 over that period. The Green Wave also won the NJSIAA Non-Public A North state sectional title and captured the overall team title at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference championships. They won by "an astounding 31 strokes", reports the Daily Record.

Coach Sean Flanagan told the reporter, "“It’s been a good run. It's inevitable that someone will come along and take us down. But we haven’t lost since May of 2009 in a nail-biter to Seton Hall Prep. That’s an awesome feat and it’s been incredible to keep it going.”

Instrumental in those wins is golfer John Voetsch of whom Coach Flanagan says, "“He’s really been the team’s ‘Steady Eddie'. It’s huge to know that every time John tees it up, he’s going to score right around even par." Voetsch was joined by four other solid competitors. “Frank Szucs has been a tournament-playing golfer his entire life. I think both Kevin Godart and Ty Zebrowski were huge pluses and surprises for us. Both showed some streaks of brilliance a little last year, but they really came on this year. We knew that we couldn’t rely on just one or two guys. They all stepped up.”

And then there is Will Voetsch, John's younger brother, who competed with John in a playoff to determine the conference individual title (John won). Flanagan has high hopes for Will and his younger golfers. As John Voetsch leaves Delbarton to compete for Vanderbilt this fall, the future remains bright for Green Wave Golf.

Congratulations to Golfer of the Year John Voetsch '12, to the members of Delbarton's Golf Team of the Year, and to their proud coach.

Go Vandy...Go Wave Golf!
