Two minutes to go, four goals behind...time for Green Wave lacrosse to give up? No, time to reload...and shoot. Check out video from the team's 'win for the ages'.
Yesterday in Livingston the team grabbed an 8-7 victory in overtime from undefeated Don Bosco in the final round of the NJSIAA State Non Public A contest. One goal led to another and senior Connor Bilby's shot with just 13 seconds remaining sent the game to overtime where John Shaffer '12 launched the winning goal. The win gave second-seeded Delbarton, No. 9 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, to an 8-7 victory over top-seeded and No. 2 Don Bosco Prep.
Delbarton goalie John Schisler '13 had five saves in overtime to defend the Green Wave goal. Shaffer told The Star Ledger, "Once we started pumping goals in, we were ready to go," Shaffer said. "We just needed a little momentum, a little energy, and it started with Austin Williams on the faceoff, and our defense coming up big on their side of the field made it easier for us." This is Delbarton's (14-6) second straight Non-Public A title and sixth in seven years. Congratulations to the team...Go Wave Lacrosse!
