Moody's Update - One + One = Two Awards!

Of the 961 teams submitting research papers in this year’s Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, both Delbarton junior and senior teams were selected to receive one of 43 Honorable Mention awards. While clearly disappointed not to take the one - two slots in the Challenge -- it's good to have a goal -- the teams are pleased to be recognized with awards in this intensely competitive national math contest. Their research papers endured rigorous and close scrutiny -- only 5.7% of the submitted papers (Moody's did the math) were selected for recognition with a prize. Way to go, math jocks!

The scholarship $1000 prizes will to be divided equally among the team’s members. and paid directly to the colleges or universities at which the winning students ultimately enroll. Doing the math (again) that's $14.28 per student per hour, which beats the minimum wage by a mile. Students on our junior team will have their scholarship payment held in escrow until they are ready to use it. This is the second year in a row that Delbarton received an Honorable Mention in the competition so we have high hopes for the future, mathematically speaking.

Kudos to our team of seniors John Lee, Omar Rizwan, Jack Rogers, John Russell and Andrew Tsukamoto from the always impressive Class of 2012, and to our team of juniors Matthew Chuckran, Thomas Hartke, Aaron Jung, Conor Ryan and Nishwant Swami from the stunningly promising Class of 2013.Congratulations also to Math Club moderators Josh Hartle and Judy Lee who can now stop glaring at each other in the hallways trying to psych each other out. Just kidding, they actually get along quite well. For math teachers.

Congratulations to our applied mathematicians...go forth and multiply Wave Math Team!
