Fall Lecture Series at St. Mary's Abbey

All are cordially invited to attend the 2012 Fall Lecture Series conducted by the Benedictine monks of Delbarton School/St. Mary's Abbey. Lecture topics include

DANTE’S INFERNO with Fr. Gabriel Coless, OSB Tuesdays Oct 9,16,23—8 to 9 PM in Old Main This dramatic masterpiece of Western literature introduces pilgrims to the path through the nine circles of Hell, an unforgettable visionary experience of the struggle for salvation.

SONG OF THE CHURCH with Br. Michael DeSaye, OSB Wednesdays Oct.10,17,24—8 to 9 PM in Old Main. This series traces the development of sacred and liturgical music from Christian antiquity to the Medieval period in the struggle for salvation.

HAVE WE LOST THE ‘GOSPEL’ IN THE GOSPELS? with Fr. Basil Wallace, OSB Oct 11,18,25 -- 8 to 9 PM in Old Main. Why did Jesus come into the world, what did he do while here? This series addresses how Hebrew scriptures depict Jesus, what his parables reveal about his mission, and how today’s church perceives the Kingdom of God and Christ’s role as Messiah.
