Appalachia 2011

Delbarton's 32nd annual collection for TOYS, BLANKETS, FOOD, CLOTHING and this year FURNISHINGS too, begins on WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 7th and runs through MONDAY DECEMBER 12th.

Before sunrise on December 14th two busloads of Delbarton juniors and fathers will join Abbot Giles and depart for Preston County, Kentucky, the second poorest county in the United States. They will travel with eight tractor trailer trucks filled with toys, blankets, food, clothing and used furnishings collected from the Delbarton community. Over a three day period, the boys and fathers will make multiple stops to personally distribute the goods to impoverished families and children and in the doing, share far more than the material items in their possession.

This year we are also asking Delbarton families to make cash donations through a Pay Pal account set up for that purpose (Please click "Donate" button above). The cash collected will be used by Abbot Giles to purchase additional toys, blankets, coats, and other needed items from local retailers which injects much needed commerce into the local economy.

Please help our boys continue the Delbarton tradition of giving back through this most personal of journeys to the long destitute mountains of eastern Kentucky.
