Campus Ministry
Leadership
In his role as supervisor of community service programs, the Student Campus Minster provides assistance to the Student Service Coordinators of the projects for which they are responsible. Over 100 students are involved as Student Service Coordinators - a position for which they are selected after an application process - and these students help organize the project, advertise events to encourage broad student participation, keep records of student involvement, and occasionally act as liaisons to the various service agencies. In his role as retreat director, the Student Campus Minister works with a team of his peers to prepare a spiritual experience for 40 or more of their brothers.
Over 70 students are involved as retreat leaders each year- also a position for which they are selected after an application process - and these students actually prepare and give the talks, lead prayer services and group Lectio Divina experiences, and facilitate small and large discussion groups. All students leaders are “chosen for their virtuous living and wise teaching” (The Rule of St. Benedict, 21:4). This "peer to peer" approach offers students various opportunities to be spiritual leaders, and encourages greater participation among the student body in campus ministry programs.
